What you must do if someone takes credit for your idea

Don’t get angry. Stay cool and analyse the situation before you do anything. Maybe there’s been a misunderstanding and there were no bad intentions.

Ask them to meet with you away from your other colleagues and take the opportunity to discuss it.  Be calm but assertive. If they immediately apologise and offer to put it right, be gracious and give them the benefit of the doubt. Be sure they know that if they do it again you won’t just let it lie. If it’s a miss understanding then you’ll be pleased you’ve cleared the air.  If they don't apologise or seem to care you know this is a person you can’t trust.

Any future ideas you have, share with a large group or take them to the top.
