Key strategies for keeping your cool when working with people who don’t listen
Don’t make it personal. Work out how them not listening is really affecting the work you’re producing. If it’s not affecting the work but just driving you mad then remember its work not play. Keep your cool as you are likely to come across people who don’t listen properly for the rest of your life.
If it is affecting the work, then collect examples and calmly discuss the ramifications with the individual away from others. Try and be tactful whilst reminding them you have a common goal to produce the best work that you can and ask for their suggestions on how things can change to make sure this doesn’t happen again and affect everybody else’s work and time.
